I preferred my P3 to the P5 because it lasted far longer on a single
set of batteries, had a suitable minimal set of useful apps designed
and honed for a small screen, and - what really clinched it - it could
receive and output in RTF directly to my Macs. But it got the
inevitable screen cable fault. I replaced it with the P5 only to find
it lacked easy communication with Macs, so has gathered dust for a
decade. A Palm was Mac friendly, but was not as good at input and
output as the Psions, and ate batteries too fast. An iPod Touch is
more versatile in many ways, but not built for as much input as the
Psions. I still live in hope for a machine about the size of the P3 or
P5, with a similar sized screen and keyboard and good basic apps,
preferably in a similar clamshell format to allow screen and keyboard
to be protected, which would be easily portable - just in case I might
need it - but capable of a reasonable amount of input without too much
effort.

For a long time my Psion replacement has been a Palm TX currently unobtainable but there is a desktop calendar that you can use as a stand alone application. I find it simple and user friendly and you may find it useful even if you don't have a Palm. It includes a calendar, contacts (address book) tasks (to-dos) and memos. If you Google Palm article 33529 it will lead you to a page with descriptions and download links. The latest version is 6.2 but I use 4.1.4 though I can't remember why.
I hope this helps.

If Psion started making modern palmtops, would it look like this?
