I forgot to mention, you can see what software is available by looking at http://maemo.org/downloads/Maemo5/(categories are on the right). I should point out that the site only shows packages that have been promoted to the main user repositories, there is stuff available on developer repositories
and web sites, that are for testing (so it often has newer stuff but the software may not be entirely bug-free yet).

Hello Keith,

Bouygues is the price breaker in France, but the problem is, that France is very expensive for prepaid plans. The starters kits are expensive and the card is only valid for a short time - depending on the amounts you put on it. Think of 2 weeks for the starter kit itself...

On the other hand, the Eurotariff for phone calls in other EU member states is approximately 45 cpm - depending on VAT - so'll you might be better off using your German Aldi Talk card.

Yours truly,

Thomas van der Zijden

My new 3MX cost fl699 = €317 = $445                   (1998 or 1999)

*  The 5MX?

My new 5MX cost fl1499 = €680 = $956                 (2001)

*  The Netbook?

My second hand S7 cost        €450 = $633            (2002)
My second hand netBook cost €500 = $ 703           (2003)

To Itamar

Dear Itamar,

I have been experimenting a few voip calls with www.messagenet.it since I installed their software on my Nokia E71 last summer

It was good fun making and receiving calls via wi-fi Network when i was abroad.

Quality seemed fine as long as the wi-fi connection was good enough

I even tried their app on a desktop PC but I AM rarely at a desktop so at the moment i have little possibilities

HTH

Gianluca

Hi TheDigest V2 readers,

some times we have in the postings special characters or vowels from German or Sscandinavian languages.
My question to you:

How do you prefer to show them in the html version of the digest: as UTF8 or ISO-8859-1

Please reply to my privat address.

HNY All,

Re: Nokia N900

I've just had a peek at the Nokia website to check the specification of the N900.

http://shop.nokia.co.uk/nokia-uk/product.aspx?sku=10208380§ion_id=530&culture=en-GB
Having read Ajai's post re IR, the Nokia website doesn't mention Infra Red under the connectivity heading.
As a Psion user, keeping some form of direct link between phone and 5mx/Netbook is very important.
Can anyone confirm if the N900 has an IR port? Thanks.

regards

Peter

Subject: PCMCIA card adapter with CF card

Hello All,

Having recently purchased on Ebay a SanDisk adapter for plugging my CF cards into my laptop (Windows Vista for Business) through the PCMCIA slot; in the hope that I could now facilitate simple, faster CF card swapping for memory backup for my Psions. I cannot 'see' where the CF card is, nor, I thnk, can my laptop!!

I suspect that there is probably a driver for the adapter needing to be downloaded to allow the laptop to see the CF card. Can anyone assist with the setup or finding the right driver?

Laptop: Toshiba; Satellite Pro; P200 series; model PSPB7E
PCMCIA > CF adapter: SanDisk; CompactFlash Adapter
CF card: various.

Also, when looking around the www I see there are different names for the technology; some say it is PCMCIA others say it's PC Card. Is there a difference, and does this matter?

All advice most welcome, many thanks.

best regards

Peter
