Well, the next milestone has been reached, we are at digest no. 1500. Amazing that we still have almost 570 subscribers from all parts of the world sharing information about Psions and other devices. A big thanks to the devoted team of operators, Dick, Michael, Rolf and Kees who continue to take their turns in making sure the digest goes out. Of course a special thanks to Rolf who got now to version 99 of the digest program. And thanks to all the subscribers who continue to read the digest.

With best regards

Doesn't make sense to invest in Treo - its a deadend platform. webOS is the future for Palm.

Robert,

The Nokia E90 has both a 3.2 megapixel camera and IR that can talk to ER5 (via C-Beam or PlBeam; apps that have genuine IRObex capability).
The Psion-beamed files end up in Nokia's Message Inbox as attachments, then you save them in your choice of directory.

I've also used GPRS with Psion-to-Nokia-to-Internet/Email via IR.

The rub, if you're talking about documents, is the Series 60 free QuickOffice and its lack of rtf capability.  The only workaround is to buy OfficeSuite Version 4 (only ten USD) which will open, edit, and save rtf docs.  Version 4, I believe, is the last version with rtf capability.

Since OuickOffice upgrades are free for the E90, I usually save rtf files as *.doc in OfficeSuite and work on them in QuickOffice.  But for you, going back and forth b/w a Psion, the path of least resistance is to edit with OfficeSuite.

Out of production now, the E90 can still be had for about 300 USD.  It has replaced all my Psions, and while its OS is but a pale light compared to ER5, QuckCalendar is a stripped-down Agenda, QuickOffice a very-stripped-down-Word, and Opera Mini 5 Beta 2/Nokia Email is a thousand times better/faster than any Internet app on the Psion.
Mobipocket, too, is wonderful on the E90.

HTH,
Jake

Thought this was very interesting: Windows Mobile handsets can be hacked to run Android or full Linux (in this case, you're seeing a screenshot of the open source word processor Abiword running). More in the video.

Subject: EPOC Entertainer Issue 25

Hello Psioneers!

EPOC Entertainer 25, the March issue, is now available from its home at the URL below.  EPOC Entertainer is a magazine leaflet about games for the EPOC32 platform.  Computers covered include the Oregon Scientific Osaris, the Psion Revo/Revo Plus and Diamond Mako, the Psion Series 5, 5mx and 5mx Pro, the Ericsson MC218, the Geofox One, and the Psion Series 7 and netBook.  The magazine leaflet is published monthly in PDF format, as an A5 leaflet to be printed on both sides of A4 paper.

In this month's issue, the series on playing games under emulation comes to an end.  There is a bit of news about the game Dark Horizon, and two games are reviewed: Widget Software's Chomper and Tomtom's V-Rally.  As usual, downloads related to this month's reviews are available at the web site.

Re.: iPhones etc. - Thanks for the long message. I think one of the advantages of the Ipod Touch is the much better and larger screen.

Best regards,

Itamar
